Says the police has been directed to deal with moral policing with an iron hand

Moral policing in any manner would not be tolerated in the state, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in Mangalore recently.

He told reporters at the airport on his arrival here, he said the police has been directed to deal with moral policing with an iron hand. The government had taken cognisance of the recent incidents of moral policing and steps would be taken to prevent such incidents.  in future, he said.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come in the wake of reports about acts of moral policing in the Mangalore district by some fringe Hindu outfits.

On the Nethravathi diversion project, he said the project would be taken up only after taking people into confidence.

Steps would be taken to ensure the project harm the environment. A meeting of elected representatives, environmentalists, and others concerned would be convened to discuss the issue, he said.
