Security has been beefed up here on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the 26/11 terror attack.  Additional arrangement of security personnel drawn from city police, state reserve police force, quick response teams and paramilitary forces has been put in place at strategically important locations, railway stations and bus depots in Greater Mumbai. Besides, the specially created Force I, the Anti-Terrorist Squad and National Security Guard personnel from the city have been put on alert.

Coastal security has been stepped up and adjoining areas have been cordoned off. A senior official told Business Standard: “The law and order situation has been reviewed by the director-general of police and also by the Mumbai commissioner of police. Besides, Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil is in constant touch with senior police officials to supervise security arrangements. ”

Security forces are also paying specific attention to security at the Department of Atomic Energy, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Nehru Science Centre and also at malls and other iconic buildings, including the Taj Mahal and Trident hotels. Search operations, nakabandis and combing operations are also being undertaken.
