A lawyer on Wednesday filed a public interest petition in the Supreme Court for an inquiry into the VVIP helicopter scam. The petition is yet to come up before the court. Moved by a M L Sharma, it wants the court to stop further supplies of the choppers — three out of 12 have already arrived.

Since the Central Bureau of Investigation has lost the trust of the people since the Bofors scam of the 1980, he requested the court to set up a special investigating team or the Central Vigilance Commission to take over the probe.
