Will always work for poor, women of society: UPSC topper Tina Dabi

Dabi became a source of inspiration for many youngsters aspiring to join the Civil Services by topping the list in her first attempt

Delhi girl Tina Dabi, who topped the Civil Services Examination 2015, has said that her inclination towards social service and desire to help the needy from the very beginning motivated her for public service.

Dabi, who has become a source of inspiration for many youngsters aspiring to join the Civil Services by topping the list in her first attempt, said that her priority would be to work for the poor and women of the society.

"I wanted to be involved with social work from the very beginning. I used to help the needy during my school and college days. And this motivated me for public service. My priority will be to work for the poor and women of the society," Dabi said in an exclusive interview to ETV News.

Dabi further said there is no shortcut formula behind the success in UPSC examination, adding it is only possible by hard work.

"I used to study not keeping in mind the number of hours. I always used to study very sincerely with full concentration," she said.

The 22-year-old also credited the ample support that she got from her family for her feat.

"My mother's contribution has played a big role behind my success. She is my motivator. My father also supported me at every stage of my life," she said.

"Strategy is very important to achieve success in the Civil Services Examination. What to read and what not is very important. The candidates aspiring for UPSC should prepare during their graduation," she added.

The Lady Shri Ram College graduate also asserted that she had started preparing for the Civil Services Examination from the first year of her graduation course and tried to be in constant contact with seniors.

Dabi has been followed by Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan of Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district and Delhi's Jasmeet Singh Sandhu in the rankings.

Artika Shukla and Shashank Tripathi secured the fourth and fifth positions respectively in the examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
