Yaduveer happy over support at 'transformative moment'

Thanked everyone for support and his acceptance as the custodian to the legacy of the Mysore royal family

Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who was adopted by Pramoda Devi, wife of late Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, as heir to the family on February 22 is happy with the support he has got from the people of Mysuru at a ‘transformative moment’.

In a post on his Facebook account, he has thanked everyone for the support and his acceptance as the custodian to the legacy of the Mysore royal family that has a history of around 600 years.

Sharing a photo of his, Yaduveer said: “I would like to once again thank everyone for the support and acceptance of me as the custodian to our great legacy. The ease with which you have accepted me can only be an outcome of the reverence we, as the people of Mysore, have for my forefathers and their immense contribution to Mysore State. The positivity, energy, and enthusiasm with which the people of Mysore participated in the events were, and still are, very invigorating. It was a privilege to be amongst my fellow Mysoreans during such a transformative moment.”

“I know that, with your continued support, we can uphold the glory of Mysore, contribute to it, enrich it, and ensure that our state remains a focal point of India’s rich history, spirituality, philosophy, and culture,” the successor to the Wadiyars’ family added.

As Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar died heirless, Pramoda Devi adopted Yaduveer as the 27th custodian of the royal house of Mysuru at a glittering ceremony in the Mysuru Palace after a year-long mourning, in the interim giving room to a lot of curiosity and speculations. However, the ‘Pattabhisheka’ of Yaduveer, who is pursuing his studies for graduation in economics and finance in Umass University of Massachusetts, United States, is yet to take place.

Prior to his formal adoption, Yaduveer in his Facebook account had thanked everyone for their overwhelming support and said: “The greatest asset of the Wadiyar heritage has always been, and will continue to be, the people that support us. I hope that together we can continue to enrich and maintain the rich history and heritage of the Wadiyars.”
