The Andhra Pradesh government will be signing MoUs with the power ministry for setting up three solar projects with a total capacity of 2,500 Mw as well as a 4,000-Mw super critical thermal power project proposed by NTPC in the state.

The Cabinet on Monday cleared the land and other requirements proposed for these projects.

Information and public relations minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said the Centre would make 50 per cent capital investment in these projects while the AP government and the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation will have 41 per cent and 9 per cent equity commitment respectively.

The Cabinet approved a proposal to allot 5,500 acres of land for a 1,000-Mw solar power project in Anantapur district, 5,000 acres for a second 1,000-Mw solar power project in Kurnool district and 3,000 acres for a 500-Mw project in Kadapa district.

In addition to this, it recently allotted land for the 4000-Mw thermal power project proposed to be set up in Visakhapatnam by NTPC Limited.

Power minister Piyush Goyal is participating as chief guest for the signing of a joint statement on 'Power for All' with AP here on Tuesday besides the above MoUs.
