Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan by tomorrow to create 1.5 million jobs for low-skilled persons under the Rajiv Education and Employment Mission.
Speaking at a review meeting attended by his cabinet colleagues and senior officials on Monday, Reddy wanted the training curriculum to be framed in coordination with the industry and other allied sectors. “Low-skill or no-skill persons may be identified and right skill development training be imparted to them to suit the industry,” he said.
The chief minister said the plan should be prepared afresh by considering the educational curriculum, training, skill development and employability aspects. “The training and skill development should suit the industry and also make the youth self-employable,” he told the officials.
He also directed the officials to review the existing training and skill development infrastructure with various departments and assess the future needs of the programme.
The meeting was attended by finance minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, minister for labour and employment Danam Nagender, rural development minister D Manikya Vara Prasad, state chief secretary SV Prasad and other senior officials.
Key departments like education, rural development, municipal administration, SC Corporation, BC Corporation, technical education, Institute of Electronic Governance, Jawahar Knowledge Centres, employment and training would be involved.
Training would be provided to suit the requirements of industrial sectors like pharma, IT & communications, construction, healthcare, bio-technology, hospitality, tourism, textiles and automobiles.
