The Lepakshi Knowledge Hub (LKH) in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh will have an ayurvedic park for which approval has been received from the scheme monitoring committee of the Union ministry of health and family welfare
The Ayush park will come up on 20 acres with an investment of Rs 18 crore in the 10,000 acre LKH. It is expected to attract Rs 125 crore investment from medical players across the country and create income opportunity for 5,000 farmers in the district.
The park will have research and development (R&D) and testing facilities, and processing, manufacturing and packaging facilities, among others, a release said. The IL&FS cluster development initiative will develop the park.
The ayurvedic industry in India is highly scattered with more than 9,000 manufacturing units, around 22,658 ayurvedic hospitals and 725,000 registered practitioners. The Rs 5,000-crore industry is majorly dominated by MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises), which account for 80 per cent.
At present, more than 30,000 branded and 1,500 traditional ayurvedic products are available in the market.
The Ayush park will promote yoga, naturopathy, unani, sidha and homeopathy systems.
