Controversial Haryana Vikas Party MP Jai Prakash yesterday alleged that the Bansi Lal government had failed on various fronts during the last one year, and said he would oppose the government under the banner of Haryana Gana Parishad (HGP).

Jai Prakash is one of the three HVP MPs in the Lok Sabha. For his strong criticism of the government plans of privatising power and on other fronts, he was suspended from the party last week. He claimed that the HGP was a non-political organisation, which could be turned into a political one at a later stage. However, his exertions are unlikely to affect the HVP-BJP coalition government, given the strength of Bansi Lals supporters.Claiming good support from legislators from HVP, Congress and independents, he said he would hold rallies in every district in the state, and bring the alleged misdeeds of the Bansi Lal government to the peoples notice. He accused the Chief Minister of unabashedly promoting his son and daughter in the party and the government.

Jai Prakash said he had met senior BJP leaders Atal Behari Vajpayee and L K Advani and conveyed to them the alleged misdeeds of the government in which the BJP is a partner.

The misdeeds would only damage the BJP politically, he told the BJP leaders.

In the three-member HVP group in the Lok Sabha, Jai Prakashs breaking away meets the one-thirds criterion in the Anti-Defection Act.

However, he has not yet been expelled from the HVP.

According to him, those who founded the HVP had joined hands with him against Bansi Lal.
