The government of Goa is guilty of wrongly estimating liquor production in the state, opposition legislators have said. They called for steps to tighten the system to ensure that tax collections are augmented up to their potential on this front.
Currently, Goa has as many as 45 distilleries manufacturing IMFL (Indian-made foreign liquor), 33 wineries and three breweries producing beer. Besides, wholesale dealers also buy IMFL from other states for sale here.
