The Chandigarh administration has decided to phase out diesel and petrol-run autorickshaws by August 31, 2009 to make way for environment-friendly LPG-run vehicles.
The administration has also ruled that the number of LPG-run autorickshaws should not exceed 3000, an official release said today.
No renewal of permits will be done beyond August 31, 2009 to make way for LPG-propelled autorickshaws in Chandigarh.
