Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah said the state would register a lower growth rate during the current financial year as against the over nine per cent, which was on a par with the national average, in 2008-09.
The lower growth rate would be due to multiple factors like prolonged drought, untimely rains and frequent agitations in the state, he said.
Speaking at the collectors’ conference here on Wednesday, he asked the collectors to be more proactive in view of the fragile financial position of the state. Rural development was key to the overall development of the state, he said, adding all schemes implemented by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy would be continued.
The state was depending on the rabi output as the kharif was below expectations due to successive drought and floods.
