Renowned scientist CNR Rao, who is the president of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, will head the 'Nano Centre', a nano technology park being set up in Bangalore.
 
Karnataka has identified a 15-acre plot in North Bangalore to develop the Nano Centre. The park will come up close to the University of Agriculture Sciences campus in Jakkur.
 
The state government will invest Rs 100 crore in the first phase of the project.
 
"The Nano Centre will attract an investment of Rs 500 crore. It will focus on research in nano technology for various applications," Karnataka's ITôBT&T secretary MN Vidyashankar said on Thursday.
 
Karnataka will host its maiden global nano technology event in Bangalore on December 6-7.
