Dissidents stick to their stand, seek Yeddyurappa's removal

Gali Janardhana Reddy, state tourism minister and the chief of dissident BJP legislators seeking removal of BS Yeddyurappa as the chief minister of Karnataka, today dismissed reports of any compromise and said there was no change in their stand.

Reddy’s reiteration of the dissidents’ stand came as Yeddyurappa claimed in New Delhi earlier this morning that “everything has been resolved.”

Reddy, who returned from Hyderabad today after meeting the MLAs and ministers supporting him, expressed hope that the party would take the “right” decision within the next two days. “I am confident that the party leaders will take a right and good decision keeping in mind the interest of the party and the betterment of the state,” he told reporters.

On the chief minister’s claim that the crisis had been resolved, he said he placed the dissidents’ demands before the high command. “We hope the party leaders provide Karnataka an example of good leadership. And I am confident they will take a good decision in this regard,” he said.
