The Edison Town Council today passed an unanimous resolution to recognise and honour the Indian Business Association (IBA) for its service to the community.
"The IBA is credited for revitalising Oak Tree Road and for hosting a majestic India Day Parade since 2004," said Councilman Diehl.
Edison is the fifth largest municipality in New Jersey and 17 per cent of its population is of Indian descent.
"We are tremendously honoured by this act. For the past 15 years we are proud to call Edison our home, and we will always continue to do so," said IBA President Manher Shah as he accepted the resolution from Councilman Dr Prasad.
Councilwoman and mayoral candidate Ricigliano congratulated the IBA for its accomplishments too.
Started in 1991, the IBA is a nonprofit organisation that coordinates the annual India Day Parade with over 100 New Jersey based Indian Associations.
