Frequent amendments of Income Tax Act, coupled with complicated tax laws were some of the issues to be addressed in tax compliance, said experts at the two-day National tax conference organised by the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners(AIFTP) of eastern zone(EZ) in Kolkata on Saturday.
Abolition of 10 per cent surcharge and fringe benefit tax (FBT), and education cess were mandatory, for making the tax laws simpler and avoiding cases of tax evasion, they said.
Also, Minimum alternate tax(MAT) should be replaced by a new system, the added.
