Samata Party president George Fernandes has demanded that Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav should resign and that the Centre impose Presidents rule and have early assembly elections conducted in the state.
He said that the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) decision to charge Yadav and others in the animal husbandry scam was the best thing that has happened to Indias democracy in a long time.
The Samata Party was formed through a split in the Janata Dal, which is headed by Yadav.
The primary cause for the split was the political frustration of senior Dal leaders such as Fernandes and Nitish Kumar under Laloo Prasads dispensation.
