The Centre has approved creation of 71 additional courts of Central Bureau of Investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Of these, three would come up in Hyderabad and two in Visakhapatnam, according to CBI DIG VV Lakshmi Narayana.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, he said CBI superintendent of police and other officials of CBI would visit district headquarters from June to meet people who have grievances against the functioning of public servants of central government departments. There were 241 cases of CBI Hyderabad and 164 of CBI Visakhapatnam branch pending trial.

He said special drives were conducted from May 12 to 19 against organised crime syndicates and supply of adulterated and spurious drugs and pharma products.

Joint checks with central and state drug controllers and vigilance wing of the Central Government Health Scheme were conducted in Hyderabad, Visakhpatnam and Bangalore and seized expired medicines and spurious drugs.

The indenting details of these were under scrutiny and samples have been sent for analysis.

Satyam case:
Speaking on sidelines, he said 90 per cent of the investigation in Satyam case was over. However, with Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju not appearing in the court for some time now CBI would press for a video conference facility, he said.
