GAIL Gas, a subsidiary of GAIL, has won the city gas distribution bids for four of the five cities for which winners were declared on Tuesday. The four cities are Devas (Madhya Pradesh), Kota (Rajasthan), Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) and Sonepat (Haryana). Bhagyanagar Gas has won the bid for Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. PNGRB has re-invited bids for Mathura, as only one player (GAIL Gas) had made a bid.
Eight companies, including Reliance Industries, GAIL, Cairn and Indian Oil Corporation, had bid for six towns for supplying compressed natural gas to automobiles and piped natural gas to households for cooking purposes.
