Govt, private mills procure 7.13 mn tn wheat

Of the total procurement of 7.13 million tonne wheat in all the procurement centres of Punjab, government agencies have procured 7.12 million tonne (99.9 per cent) till date whereas private traders procured 9,120 tonne (0.1 per cent).

According to an official spokesman, Food Corporation of India procured 1.08 million tonne.

The Punjab government has set up 1,547 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of wheat in the state, the spokesman added.
