In another first to its credit, the state government will be introducing live webcast of its events, apart from secratrarial video conferences with the chief minister as well as visual documentation of past events.

To begin with, chief minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech on August 15, 2008 will be webcast live on the state government's official website. For this, the government has roped in Ahmedabad-based VMukti Solutions Pvt. Ltd. which specialises in unified communications technologies, rich media conferencing and other innovative services.

The state government recently conducted a pilot test for the webcast before finally rolling it out on August 15. Consolidating on its e-governance activities, Gujarat government will also convert its conventional EPABX systems across departments to internet protocol (IP) based PBX with the help of VMukti Solutions.

"Once rolled out in Gujarat, another 24 states have shown interest in using our services for initiating live webcast services. As of now, the state will be the first to do so," said Hardik Sanghvi, chief executive officer of VMukti Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Under its tie-up with Gujarat government, the company hopes to bag orders worth over Rs 50 crore in the coming months. Having gauged the amount of orders that might require expansion of its operations, VMukti Solutions plans to raise around $ 3 million (Rs 12 crore approx) and is in talks with some venture capitalists, Sanghvi added.
