Continuing on its focus towards micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Gujarat government announced setting up of a separate MSME cell even as it looks to offer incentives to encourage the sector for further investment.

Through its collaboration with the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), the state government has identified seven sectors for inviting more investment from the MSMEs.

The seven identified sectors include Forest and Environment, Energy, Food and Health, Revenue & Urban Development, Transport, Finance and Industry.

Apart from looking to set up a MSME cell, the state government has also made an allocation to the MSME as per this year’s budget.

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel stated that starting from May, every Monday for one hour various departments and stakeholders would be discussing industrial issues to identify the solution for the same in her presence.

According to Rohit Patel, President of GCCI, the chamber conducted a investment summit and expo to attract investment as well as provide solutions to MSMEs problems.

“We hope that the GCCI Summit and Expo will provide solutions to problems plaguing the MSME sector on spot in the presence of ministers and respective secretaries of different government departments,” said Patel.

“The MSME units need to take advantage of new market opportunities that arise urgently to spur growth. The feasibility of setting up an industrial zone by foreign companies and top corporate is being looked into to create novel investment chances in line with Make in India,” Patel added.
