Haryana will soon become the first state in the country to have automatic tax collection centres at all its inter-state highways.

The state government expected that the new system would help in increasing the revenue collection, Haryana Transport Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said today.

The first centre will be at Jaisinghpur Khera in Rewari district, adjoining Rajasthan, and a piece of land has already been acquired for the purpose.

He said this new system would be functional in the state within next 16 months. In all, 9 places had been identified for these centres, he said, adding a committee has already been set up under his chairmanship to set up these centres.

"The new centres will have facilities like weighing machines, camera and a computer, which will be connected to the head office to improve efficiency and maintain transparency," he said.
