The draft concession pact for four or six laning of highways is expected to be taken for final clearance during the next few days official sources said.

They said the finance secretary has called for meeting of financial institutions on December 7 to work out details for funding these projects. Subsequently, the taskforce on infrastructure is expected to meet after two days to clear the pact and pave the way for multilaning of roads.

The pact is based on the estimates of traffic flow on the 93 kilometre Jaipur Kishangarh stretch. The project's scope is in line with the report of the Canadian consultants N D Lea Associates who recommended six lanes instead of four for the corridor.

The surface transport ministry has decided that corridors where the traffic density has reached or is expected to reach 60,000 passenger cars in the next few years, would have six lanes.

The technical points made by the consultants also include engineering design and working out operations and maintenance parameters for the projects, which are currently specified by the Indian Roads Congress.

The sources said while the concession pact will be uniform for all projects, the technical parameters will be revised and bids will be submitted according to the technical specifications mentioned.
