Indian Railways has posted double digit growth in revenue earnings in mid June, with total goods earning standing at over Rs 1,500 crore.
Between June 11 and 20, the PSU behemoth earned Rs 2,280 crore as against Rs 2,067 crore earned during the same period last year, thereby posting a growth of 10.30 per cent.
Revenue from goods earning stood at Rs 1,545 crore during the period, an increase of 9.26 per cent and the total passenger revenue earnings stood at Rs 655 crore, which was again an increase of 13.25 per cent, said sources in the Railway Ministry.
About 215 million passengers booked berths in trains during this period, which was again an increase of 7.15 per cent, the sources said.
In the suburban sectors, 112.82 million passengers booked tickets and in non-suburban section 101.36 million, they added.
During April and May, Railways had posted around three per cent growth in freight traffic.
