The marble industry, which had been hit by nearly two decades of militancy, pleaded for extension of lease for existing marble units.
The minister patiently heard the industry's grievances and assured the representatives that the government would take all necessary steps for reviving these units.
Later, a delegation of Sport Goods Manufacturing Association also called on Jora and submitted a charter of demands that included proper imposition of ban on export of Kashmir willow clefts, cricket bat willow wood and a check on trafficking of willow wood to peeling units.
They also, among other things, demanded imposition of proper tax on export of semi-finished willow products.
