Keeping up its onslaught against the BJP Government, JD(S) today released a “first instalment of chargesheet” listing ten corruption charges on the eve of the prestigious zilla and taluk panchayat polls. Releasing the ‘chargesheet’ at a public meeting here, JD(S) supremo and former prime minsiter H D Deve Gowda alleged Karnataka had witnessed scams running into Rs 1 lakh crore during the Yeddyurappa regime in the last two-and-half years.
Gowda, who described Yeddyurappa as the most corrupt Chief Minister in the country, said he would disc-uss with Governor H R Bha-rdwaj the issue of list of corrupt people the latter has and also new scandals. Gowda, whose party has been making a sustained campaign against the BJP Government on land denotification issue, released the ‘chargesheet’ listing ten scandals allegedly involving Yeddyurappa’s kith and kin along with ‘documentary evidence’ about land deals.
He said he would release documentary evidence on ‘scandals’ in the BJP controlled city corporation BBMP. Gowda said his party would launch a campaign — “2G Spectrum versus Karnataka”.
— asserting “we cannot shut our eyes to developments in the state. In a blistering attack on the BJP for stalling parliament over the opposition demand for a joint parliamentary committee to probe the 2G Spectrum scam, he flayed the party for avoiding Karnataka in its anti-corruption agitation.
The BJP chose to hold its rallies in several parts of the country, including Mumbai, Guwhati and Bhubhaneshwar, but not in Karnataka, he pointed out and wanted senior leader L K Advani to clarify the issue. He expressed optimism that the BJP would not resort to paralysing parlaiment during the budget session also and allow discussion on 2G Spectrum and other scams. “Instead of making a general statement that corruption prevailed during all regimes, let there be a debate on NDA rule, UPA government and also on my tenure as PM”, he said.
Gowda urged all Janata parivar leaders in other parties to return to join hands “if they are willing to strengthen the Janata parivar.”
