Almost a fortnight after Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar returned the public accounts committee (PAC) report on 2G spectrum allocation scam, the controversial report is again likely to be tabled before the PAC on Tuesday.

Senior members of the PAC were unsure if the report, which had divided the parliamentary committee, would be taken up with the same zeal again in the new PAC as most the members in the present PAC are new and they were neither involved in the probe nor in the preparation of the report.

“I have decided to table the report again before the PAC and then only the committee members would decide if they want to take up the issue again,” said Murli Manohar Joshi, the PAC chairman while talking to reporters. Joshi had earlier said it was the prerogative of the Speaker to accept the report or not but he would table the letter sent by Speaker Meira Kumar so that it could be read and discussed before the PAC members.

Joshi, however, remained tightlipped about the future course of action on the report and whether the PAC could again take up the 2G issue in the parliamentary committee. “This is a new committee and since most of the members are new, I don’t know how much time they would take to go through the report,” Joshi added.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar had returned the PAC report on 2G spectrum allocation on June 14. The report was submitted by Joshi on April 30 after it was rejected by 11 members in the 21 member committee.
