K'taka records 65% voting in Phase-II of LS polls

A little over 65 per cent of 1.55 crore electorate cast their votes in the second and final leg of polling held for 11 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka yesterday.

Election officials today said 65.06 per cent had exercised their franchise as against 54.60 per cent in the first phase, during which 17 constituencies went to polls on April 23.

The overall polling per per cent in both phases was 58.48 per cent out of the total electorate of 4.17 crore, election officials said while releasing final poll figures here.

A total of 427 candidates contested for the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Official sources said in the second phase, Bagalkot recorded a turn out of 63.26 per cent, Haveri 63.59 per cent, Dharwad 56.56 per cent, Davanagere 68.23 per cent, Shimoga 67.44 per cent, Udupi-Chikmagalur 68.47 per cent, Hassan 70.30 per cent, Dakshina Kannada 74.44 per cent, Mandya 68.84 per cent, Mysore 58.91 per cent and Chamarajanagar (SC) 67.84 per cent.
