After the execution of Mumbai 26/11 terror attack convict, Ajmal Kasab on Tuesday morning, Gujarat chief minister, Narendra Modi was quick to demand similar action for Afzal Guru, key accused in the attack on the Parliament in 2001.

On his twitter message, Modi wrote, "What about Afzal Guru, who attacked Parliament, our temple of democracy, in 2001? That offense predates Kasab’s heinous act by many years."

Time and again, Modi has demanded execution of Guru, who has been awarded death sentence by the Supreme Court in 2004 for his role in the attack on the Indian Parliament in December 2001. As many as seven security personnel were killed in the coordinated attack by the terror outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Afzal Guru's mercy petition is pending with the President.

It may be noted that Kasab's execution comes nearly four years after the Mumbai attacks. Kasab, the sole surviving Pakistani terrorist was hanged to death at the Yerawada central prison this morning in a top-secret operation. He was buried inside the premises of Yerawada Central Jail shortly after he was hanged.
