World Trade Organization Chief Pascal Lamy wants to have second term in office. He has now decided to throw his hat in the race in which he will be the first candidate to file papers.

Recently, the WTO General Council chair Ambassador Bruce Gosper has announced the procedures for the selection process to choose Lamy's successor beginning from 1st September 2005. “I would hereby like to notify you of my decision to seek re-appointment as Director-General of the World Trade Organization for a further term upon the expiry of the current one on 31 August 2009,” he said in a letter to the GC chair.

Lamy’s term ends on 31 August 2009.
