The left constituents of the United Front have decided to vote against the Insurance Regulatory Authority Bill which they say will pave the way for entry of private insurance business in the country.
In a statement, MPs belonging to the Left parties yesterday said the bill, now now before the Lok Sabha, was against the interests of the nation .
We have decided to oppose the bill and vote against it. We call upon others to realise the danger involved and join us in thwarting the move, the Mps said.

The MPs are: S Ramachandran Pillai, E Balanandan, Basudeb Acharia, Geeta Mukherjee, Gurudas Dasgupta, Chitta Basu, Biplab Dasgupta, Amar Roypradhan, V V Raghavan, Pramothes Mukherjee, Sanat Kumar Mandal, Shtrughna Prasad Singh, Jalaludin Ansari and Ajay Chrakravarty.
Meanwhile, the All India LIC Employees Federation yesterday criticised the bill which it said would pave way for the ill-conceived entry of private sector into insurance business.
The association said the employees would soon launch a struggle and the future course would be charted out at a national convention to be held in the capital on August 1.
On August 4 a march to Parliament will be undertaken by banking and insurance employees to protest the measure.
