M'shtra wants IPPs to give deadline for projects

| Today, State Energy Minister Dilip Walse-Patil had called a meeting of all the IPPs for a review of the situation. The meeting was attended by the representatives of Tata Power, Reliance Energy, Central Indian Power Corporation (Cipco), Spectrum Power, Jindal Thermal and Ispat-Bhadrawati. |
| Of the nine MoUs signed with IPPs, only six submitted project reports within stipulated time of six months. |
| Only Tata Power and Reliance Energy representatives were able to give firm deadlines about completion of their projects. |
| The representative of Tata Power informed that their 500 mw plant at Trombay will become operational by June 2008 and another 1,000 mw plant at Vele village in Raigad district will be operational by September-October 2009. The Reliance representative said that they will take around three years to synchronise their 4,000 mw power plant at Shahpur in Raigad. |
| The Jindal representatives said that they have got three acres of land and are in the process of taking further clearances. The Ispat-Bhadrawati representatives said they have asked MIDC to buy land. |
| In today's meeting, Patil asked the IPPs to stick to six-month deadline from the date of submitting detailed project report for financial closure . |
| State BJP President Nitin Gadkari hitting out at the state government on Monday said, "The state government's claim about getting power from IPPs is a hogwash." |
