Spelling out his initiatives to promote industrial development in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said his government would step up its efforts to enhance ease of doing business in the state. He was addressing CEO Conference, organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci).

Fadnavis said the government has already reduced the number of various approvals required by investors to start a project to 25 from 76.

He said it would be further brought down. According to the chief minister, the government with the active involvement of the industry will implement Make In Maharashtra scheme.

Fadnavis said the government will carry out labour reforms in consultation with stakeholders. A committee, headed by the state labour commissioner, has already been set up for this purpose. The chief minister said the government expects the clearance from the ministry of environment and forest for the Rs 8,500 crore coastal road connecting south and north Mumbai.
