MF Farooqui tipped to be new DoT secretary

Current Heavy Industries secretary will replace R Chandrashekhar who will retire by month-end

Heavy Industries secretary M F Farooqui is likely to take over as the new secretary in the Department of Telecommunications. He will replace R Chandrashekhar who will retire in the end of this month.

Farooqui who is a domicile of Uttar Pradesh is a 1980 Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer who has worked in this ministry only once many decades ago as a deputy secretary in the  between 1990-91 as a private secretary to the minister.

Farooqui who is a post graduate in Physics has worked in many other departments in varying positions, which includes Secretary of Environment and Forests also.

He has previously worked in the centre in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Law and Justice, Science & Technology amongst others.
