Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would be the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) star campaigner in the last leg of campaign for the Assembly elections in Delhi which is due on November 29.
According to party sources, Modi would address at least six public rallies in the capital on November 25 and 26. On the first day, Modi would address rallies in New Delhi, south Delhi and trans-Yamuna areas, while the day after he would be seen campaigning for BJP candidates in the north and west Delhi areas.
Modi had already campaigned for the party in Chhattisgarh, where the first phase of election was held last week. However, BJP’s election managers say there is a growing demand from candidates for Modi’s presence in the rallies. However, they say the party leaders are cautious not to over-expose Modi before the coming Lok Sabha election.
Modi would be part of the star-studded campaign that the BJP is planning to launch just before the polling date. Party sources added two more chief ministers — BC Khanduri (Uttarakhand) and Parkash Singh Badal (Punjab) — would also join the campaign to seek votes from the people of their states, Uttarakhand and Punjab, respectively, who live in the national capital.
Badal, whose party the Shriromani Akali Dal has also fielded candidates in the Delhi election, had been a trusted ally of the BJP.
