Expressing shock over the terrorist attack in Mumbai, Indian industry has demanded tougher laws to tackle terrorism. "Indian business and its various stakeholders have, so far, been mute and very detached from this debate on terrorism and tougher approach to terrorism and terrorists, including anti-terror laws," said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, president FICCI adding that last night’s attack was a clear and unambiguous attack on the Indian economy and all its participants. "It is time we all join this debate on terrorism and demand stronger and firmer leadership and approach to this threat of terrorism, including better laws," said Chandrasekhar.
The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has also condemned the terrorist attacks. The Assocham president Sajjan Jindal said that such a heinous act has no place in any civil society and therefore these anti-national forces should be dealt with iron hands. The Assocham chief added that terrorist will never succeed in their mission to divide the country as law will take its own course.
