The petroleum ministry has proposed to the Prime Minister seven projects whose speedy implementation can provide fiscal stimulus to the economy in the short and medium terms.
The projects are: Central India Refinery project at Bina in Madhya Pradesh, Paradip Refinery project in Orissa, Punjab Refinery project at Bhatinda in Punjab, Mumbai High North redevelopment, Mumbai High South redevelopment, additional development in Heera and South Heera, and improved oil recovery scheme for Gandhar.
The proposal was made at a meeting convened here today by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to examine the possibilities for providing stimulus to the economy by increasing public investment through immediate implementation of suitable projects.
