Congress today said Pakistani authorities had not made a "robust case" against JuD chief Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, prime accused in the Mumbai attacks, leading to his release from detention.

Party spokesman Manish Tewari accused Islamabad of raking up issues that are not relevant to "growth of terrorism in the region."

"Pakistani authorities failed to make a robust case (against the accused) in the High Court. It is disappointing that Pakistan has started pointing fingers again at India and it is raking up issues that are completely irrelevant to the growth of terrorism in the region in the recent years," he told reporters on the sidelines of a private function.

He was apparently referring to Prime Minister Yousf Raza Gilani asking "occupying forces" in Jammu and Kashmir to stop repression.

Tewari hoped that Pakistan realises the gravity of actions created by it.

On Indian students being attacked in Australia, he said the government was taking all steps to stop assaults against the community members.
