Irate denizens took to the streets in south Delhi in the early hours today to protest against what they claimed a "prolonged power cut" in their area as demonstrations against power and water shortage continued in the city.
A large number of people belonging to Munirka village in south Delhi blocked traffic on the Outer Ring Road to vent their ire against the shortage of power in their locality.
"We were out of power for 26 hours in our locality. We had no other option but to take to streets," Praveen Sharma, a local, claimed.
Protest was also reported from Mongolpuri area where denizens demonstrated against the shortage of basic amenities in their area.
The locals have been haunted by long power cuts coupled with water shortage for the sixth day today. Some of the areas like Munirka, Dwarka, Laxmi Nagar and Seelampur went without power for some duration.
The peak demand had come down to 3,957 Mw yesterday from an all time high of of 4,275 Mw on Saturday.
Hit by one of the worst-ever power crisis in the capital, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit set a four-day deadline for the power discoms to ease the shortage or face strong action.
