The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways during the period from 1 December to 10 December 2008 have registered a 7.93 per cent increase at Rs 2,084.61 crore. Indian Railways had recorded total approximate earnings of Rs 1,931.39 crore in the same period last year.
The total goods earnings in the period have increased 7.47 per cent at Rs 1,412.51 crore as compared to Rs 1,314.38 in the corresponding period last year. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period were Rs 600.77 crore as compared to Rs 553.90 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 8.46 per cent.
Revenue earnings from “other coaching” amounted to Rs 55.93 crore during this period as compared to Rs 49.15 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 13.79 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during this period were 20.28 crore as compared to 18.69 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 8.50 per cent.
