RS Sharma gets additional charge of telecom after Farooqui retires

R S Sharma,secretary of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY), has been given additional charge of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for a period of three months or until a new order.

"The competent authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, DoT, to Shri Ram Sewak Sharma, IAS (JH:78), secretary Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY), for a period of three months with effect from 01-07-2014 or until further orders, whichever is earlier," according to the appointment notice.

MF Farooqui, who was the secretary for DoT, retired on June 30 after a 15 months stint. Sharma, who joined as secretary of DEITY on May 1, had earlier worked as the Mission Director of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) between August 2009 and March 2013. BSNL appointment A N Rai, currently the director (enterprise) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has been given the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director. Rai has been given the additional charges after R K Upadhyay retired as the CMD of BSNL on June 30.

"A N Rai Director (Enterprise) BSNL has assumed the additional charge of post of CMD, BSNL with effect from 01-07-2014 and until further orders," BSNL said in a statement.

Anupam Srivastava, director (consumer mobile services), BSNL has been nominated by the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) as the next CMD of BSNL. However, Srivastava is yet to get formal approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
