Shimla's most famous cafe, Barista to close

Shimla’s well-known Barista coffee shop located in the heart of this popular resort town is closing down by the end of this month, after around nine years.

Located on the Mall opposite the historic Gaiety theatre, the Barista outlet has been a popular haunt with locals as well as Indian and foreign tourists who throng this hill station round the year.

Sources say Tommy Hilfiger apparels has come up with a far more lucrative rent offer and will oust Barista which is unable to pay such a high rent.

“The Barista store on the Mall has emerged as a landmark.Besides tourists it attracts Shimla’s whos who in the last decade or so of its existence,” said one regular coffee drinker.

Sources said the Barista company has so far failed to find a suitable place to shift into on the Mall. Which means coffee drinkers here will have to learn to get used to without Barista coffee.

Shimla’s Mall street houses some of the best known MNC brands.Apparel MNC stores outnumber the rest in fashion crazy Shimla where woollens are worn almost the entire year.
