The Uttar Pradesh government today order a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into functioning of fake universities in the state.
"The SIT has been ordered to take up to probe into functioning of fake universities. It has been asked to complete the probe within three months," a senior Home department official said here.
These fake universities are in Lucknow, Mathura, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Allahabad, Kanpur, Pratapgarh and Aligarh districts.
The SIT has also appealed all those who has been cheated by these fake universities to help it in the probe.
The universities which will be probed include Indraprasth Shiksha Parishad, Mahila Gram Vidya Peeth, Gandhi Hindi Vidyapeeth, Maharana Pratap Shiksha Niketan University, Uttar Pradesh University and Gurukul University.
