State mill workers to get relief

The Union government will disburse Rs 6.55 crore to workers of closed textile mills in the state under the Textile Workers Rehabilitation Fund Scheme (TWRFS).

According to a release from the Union Ministry of Textiles, the amount will be given to workers of closed textile mills "" Sujatha Textiles Mills (Nanjangud), Bellary Spinning & Weaving (Bellary) and Nandi Hasbi Textile Mills (Nargund) "" by Union Minister for Textiles Shankersinh Vaghela on Thursday at Nanjangud.

Under the TWRFS, the workers of the closed textile mills are eligible for relief amount equivalent to 75 per cent of their wages during the first year of closure, 50 per cent during the second year of closure and 25 per cent during the third year of closure, the release said.
