The Monsoon session of the Karnataka Legislature will be held from July 9 to 24. Home minister V S Acharya told reporters that 18 bills are slated to come up for consideration and approval during the session, which might be extended by a day or two, if needed.
“The session will approve Budget for the full year”, he said.
He said city corporations, town municipalities and town panchayats have been asked to file an action plan for civic services improvement in the context of the Government’s announcement on special financial assistance.
The state government had announced Rs 15 crore a year for two years for city corporations, Rs 5 crore a year for two years for town municipalities and Rs 2 crore a year for two years for town panchayats.
There are a total of 211 such civic bodies in Karnataka and the financial implications for the state under this programme is Rs 1,111 crore in the first year, and Rs 1,411 crore in the second year, Acharya said.
