Truckers' strike from Sept 16

Bus, truck and tanker owners in Kerala will go on an indefinite strike from September 16 in protest against the Supreme Court's directive to strictly install 'speed governors' in heavy vehicles.

Office-bearers of various organisations, including the All Kerala Private Bus Operators Association, here today demanded the intervention of the government for an amicable settlement of the issue.

The apex court has ordered installation of 'speed governors' in all heavy vehicles from November 21, 2006.
