Two Indians among Asia's most influential asset managers: report

Two Indians, Vikrant Gugnani and UK Sinha, have been named among the 25 most influential people in the Asian asset management industry by AsianInvestor magazine.     

The list, compiled by Hong Kong-based AsianInvestor magazine, brings out the names of the most influential individuals at institutions and fund management companies in Asia in its May edition.     

Gugnani, named in the list, is former CEO of Anil Ambani Group firm Reliance Mutual Fund and now heads the international business of Reliance Capital.     

Sinha is Chairman and Managing Director of state-run UTI Asset Management, which is among the top five fund houses in the country.     

Other fund managers named in the list include Barclays Global Investors' Mark Talbot, Aberdeen Asset management Asia's Hugh Young and Park Hyeon-Joo from Mirae Assets.      The list also named Fidelity International's Chris Ryan and Asia Alternative Asset Partners' Paul Smith, among others.     

Reliance MF is the top fund house in the country with an average AUM of Rs 88,387.98 crore, while UTI MF had Rs 54,489.98 crore at the end of April.     

AsiaInvestor magazine, published by Haymarket Media, covers topics such as pension reform, institutional investment trends, risk management and mutual funds among others.
