The US today offered to partner in India's efforts to promote clean energy and said this, in no way, would hinder the economic development as it will open new avenues and create new jobs.

"Committing to clean energy would not inhibit India's economic development rather it will help create new jobs, new industries and greater prosperity for people of this country," US Energy Secretary Steven Chu said today while addressing at the Indian Institute of Technology - Delhi here.

In his address Chu's focussed on the opportunities for partnership between India and the United States on clean energy technologies.

Chu expressed that the US intend to be a technology partner with Indian saying both countries can accomplish more working together than working alone.

He said that India's world class scientists and IT industry are poised to make enormous contribution toward a clean energy revolution and help India prosper.

According to Chu, the potential area of cooperation and progress include energy efficiency in appliances, electrical motors, building, clean vehicles and distributed electricity generation and storage.
