After Hyderabad, we are giving top priority to Visakhapatnam for IT industries. Already HSBC is setting up a business process outsourcing (BPO) and call center facility in this city, and we are negotiating with GE, Infosys, TCS and other IT giants to set up their facilities at Visakhapatnam," the caretaker chief minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, said here.
Wipro will soon set up its IT facility in Visakhapatnam. The state government has allotted 3.9 acres of land for the facility in the city. Naidu informed this at at a media conference on Sunday.
The government has proposed to create infrastructure facilities in 100 acres of land at Rushikonda beach area near here for locating the corporate offices.
"We are trying hard to attract the German car making company Volkswagen to Visakhapatnam," the chief minister added in this context.
"Through industrialisation along the state can generate employment. Keeping this in mind , the state government has been allotting lands to industrial houses at nominal prices. The government is also offering several concessions to attract the industries. Even the Karnataka government is following the same policy," Naidu said.
Referring to the criticism by the opposition parties of the land allotment to corporates at cheap rates, the chief minister said that after land allotment to industries, prices of the land in respective cities were appreciating, thus gaining from such move by the government.
